As London is a very touristy town, there are plenty of Money Exchange services. You have to be a bit patient and perhaps walk around town comparing the deals they offer you. As we mentioned before, the post office is a good place to exchange your money with 0% commission. But, if you cannot find a branch or the banks are closed, there are plenty of small money-exchange shops around most train stations (Victoria, Kings Cross, Liverpool Station, Paddington…) and main touristy areas like Leicester Square or the high street in Queensway/Bayswater.
Avoid changing money in your hotel or the airport as usually you lose some money. It is not a bad idea either to simply arrive in the country and take money out with your bank card, which usually has a very good exchange rate and in many occasions don’t charge you a commission (check out before leaving home).
Your traveller’s cheques can be exchange also in the post office, apart from the usual banks.
